How can I remove the empty category?

This category can not be deleted. The app requires a default category.

Is there any restriction on number of items in the list?

There is no limit in the number of items you can create.

Can I back up article data?

In Configuration section, select backup option. Then follow the instructions showed in the screen.

Can I send the list to other people?

You can send the list by email. Tap the share button in the top-left in the "Shopping list" view.
